Where Does the Best Healthcare System Reside?

From 14 years of experience and research on plant-based nutrition and healthy lifestyle practices, I have concluded that there is only one effective healthcare system in the world. It is not in any city, state, or country. It is inside of you and has been working 24/7 since before you were born to give you the care you merit in order to live a long, healthy, and vibrant life.

Approximately 2500 years ago, Hippocrates, traditionally referred to as the Father of Medicine, stated:

“Everyone has a doctor in him or her; we just have to help it in its work. The natural healing force within is the greatest force in getting well.”


Unfortunately, our doctors, medical institutions, and profit-seeking corporations are not keen on revealing to us Hippocrates’ simple and wise advice. Consequently, for health guidance, we continue to depend on external healthcare systems developed by governments, healthcare institutions, and the drugs provided by pharmaceutical companies. As a result, most people go through life oblivious to their body’s power to self-heal, prevent and even reverse chronic diseases.

You received the gift of your body at the same time you received the gift of life. For however long your body lives, you are alive. When the body goes…so too does your life. Life brings many other precious gifts, such as seeing, hearing, touching, thinking, and feeling joy and love. Yet, with so many daily issues and distractions, how often do you stop to appreciate how fortunate you are to have received these priceless gifts…gifts you never even asked for?


We have become so accustomed to chronic diseases in our lives that we accept them as an inevitable part of aging. After all, we have to die from something. Together, cardiovascular disease and cancer cause an estimated 28,000,000 deaths annually. According to The World Health Organization, 55,400,000 passed away worldwide in 2019, and 74% were from chronic diseases. Compare that to the almost three-year total of 6,800,000 from covid related deaths.

What I find extremely important is that most fatal chronic diseases can be prevented by consuming whole plant-based foods and avoiding foods that are highly processed or have a high-fat content, especially saturated fats. In a recent article from U.S. News and World Report titled U.S. News Best Diets for 2023, a panel of leading health experts, including nutritionists and doctors specializing in diabetes, heart health, and weight loss, reviewed detailed assessments prepared by U.S. News of each diet. The experts rated the following top 5 diets in 11 categories, including short- and long-term weight loss, ease of compliance, safety, and nutrition:

  • #1 The Mediteranium Diet
  • #2 The Dash Diet
  • #3 The Flexitarian Diet
  • #4 The Mind Diet
  • #5 The TLC Diet

All five support whole plant-based foods while discouraging processed foods and foods with high fat content.


Let’s connect the above diet information with the scientific fact that the great majority of covid deaths have occurred among people with at least one chronic illness, especially cardiovascular disease, obesity, high blood pressure, and type 2 diabetes. It seems to make sense then that a safe and secure option for protecting ourselves from both pandemics (covid and chronic diseases), regardless of age, would be by eating more plant-based and less processed foods.

If on the contrary, we don’t choose that option, we’ll probably continue relying on pharmaceutical drugs, vaccines, and boosters. In the long run, I am concerned that this option will negatively affect our inner health system and compromise our body’s natural immunity. What will be the result? The continued upsurge in the chronic diseases that are associated with both pandemics.

You can win the health lottery if you decide to trust your inner healthcare system and then act consciously to make that a reality. At some point during that journey, it will become crystal clear that relying primarily on doctors, hospitals, and big pharma to resolve your health problems isn’t in your best interest, especially during these pandemic times.
