THE 2024 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION ACCORDING TO DORFMAN

MULTIPOLARITY VS. UNIPOLARITY

With all the commotion between the two presidential candidates, as we approach Election Day next Tuesday, November 5, it’s extraordinary that neither Trump nor Harris has mentioned anything about the three-day BRICS summit that culminated on October 24 in Kazan, Russia. Besides other important issues on the ballot, there is virtually no coverage by the Mainstream Media on this event, revealing an international “tug of war” between the United States and its Western allies vs. the BRICS+ Nations. This event’s long-term outcome will have tremendous global economic, social, and political effects for decades. The extent to which this information is being downplayed and denied by Western Governments and the Mainstream Media attests to the intentions of the United States and the West to hide the information from the public. Knowing what is going on internationally is critical at this time and helps explain why our Government has failed to resolve local issues that are priorities in the minds of most US citizens.

THE MULTI-BILLION DOLLAR QUESTION TO ASK OURSELVES IS:

How Can the Government Fix the Neglected Issues at Home when it’s Focusing Energy and Valuable Resources on Two Dangerous Wars Overseas?

Regarding the essential issues on voters’ minds, although there are priority differences between Trump and Harris supporters, several are common to both parties. According to a poll from the PEW Research Center, among the top issues for voters from both parties are:

1.     The Economy – inflation and rising prices
2.     Immigration
3.     Health Care
4.     Crime

All of the above are critical domestic issues that voters have been counting on the Government to resolve. You can even add other pertinent matters where US taxpayer money should be spent, such as infrastructure, education, and the problem of homelessness. It’s a no-brainer that the public prefers peace over costly wars, both for financial reasons and for the millions of innocent lives lost and cities destroyed. Yet, what are the priorities of the present Government? Supporting the two major wars and a potential war in the near future against China. How do we know that? Follow the money! Although the wars on the other side of the world are not considered top priority by the voters, the Government doesn’t seem to care. It has its own agenda.

THE HEGEMON TRAP

HEGEMON: Refers to a nation that holds a dominant position in international politics and exerts influence over other countries through economic, military, and cultural means.

Since the end of the 20th century, the US has been fighting tooth and nail to preserve its position as a global hegemon. Throughout history, that’s been the way it has been with hegemons, especially when they fear losing their “king of the hill” status to another power.

Maintaining its hegemon role has been the primary goal of the United States Government following the breakup of the USSR in 1991. Until now, this has been achieved through bully tactics such as sanctions, regime change, meddling in the elections and affairs of other countries, assassinations, and wars. Because of the BRICS platform of peace and cooperation among sovereign nations, from the perspective of the US Government, the CIA, pro-war lobbies, hardliners, and the Military Industrial Complex, the rise of BRICS and the Multipolar World is seen as an existential threat that must be confronted, and hopefully eliminated. Voters must understand that the US-supported wars between Russia and Ukraine, and in the Middle East, represent an ongoing “tug of war” against our so-called “enemies” that require around-the-clock spending of excessive amounts of money. In other words, unless we find a peaceful solution to the wars, which is what the public wants, the Government will continue to emphasize expenditures abroad and ignore the problems at home.

So, what is the hegemon “trap”?

When you’re a hegemon, you perceive any country that challenges your #1 ranking as your enemy. As a result, you label their governments and leaders as evil, barbarians, dictators, and communists and demonize and dehumanize their people. Diplomacy and negotiations with evil people are, of course, out of the question. You hate them and what they stand for. This negative attitude toward other countries trickles down to the public through the controlled mainstream media, and we, the people, end up hating the Russians, the Chinese, the Iranians, etc. etc., etc. We don’t know them, but nevertheless, we hate them because we believe what our Government and the media tell us.

IN TODAY’S DANGEROUS, UNCERTAIN, EXISTENTIAL WORLD, WHICH US CANDIDATE IS A BETTER OPTION?

One thing we are hopefully learning from Presidential elections throughout history is that few campaign promises are kept. Taking that knowledge into account and the existential danger of thermonuclear war on the horizon, resulting from today’s climate of “forever wars,” I believe that Donald J Trump would be the best choice because of the following points:

1.     Foreign Wars: He is the only candidate who has emphasized the importance of not getting involved in other countries’ wars and consistently pushed for the end of the war in Ukraine. On the other hand, Harris promised at the Democratic Convention that she “will stand strong with Ukraine and our NATO allies.”

2.     Sanctions: Trump said on September 5, 2024, that he would remove all sanctions imposed on Russia by the Biden administration for invading Ukraine. He commented that sanctions are hurting the global dominance of the US dollar. “You’re losing Iran; you’re losing Russia. China is out there trying to get its currency to be the dominant one. You’re going to lose the dominance of the dollar.” Just the possibility of removing sanctions as a way of coercing and bullying other countries into doing what we want will help the US achieve more favorable relationships with their adversaries and developing countries instead of scaring them into searching for other options (i.e., the BRICS Association)

3.     Negotiations: Trump, author of “Art of The Deal,” is a salesman who met with various leaders on their turf during his first term as President, including Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping, and Kim Jong Un. What’s most significant is that he does not consider them evil or hate them. He sees them as adversaries, opening up the possibility of diplomacy and negotiations, which the US administration has entirely shunned. With an ever-present nuclear threat, negotiating face-to-face with adversaries is the only road to peace.

4.     Anti-Establishment: Trump doesn’t think and act like a typical politician. Because he’s unpredictable, the establishment fears him and is hell-bent on doing what it takes to prevent him from occupying the White House. The world is in chaos and danger, and it is times like these that require “thinking out of the box,” or as Buckminster Fuller said:
“You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, you build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.”

FINAL THOUGHTS

A Multipolar World is a reality that the United States and its Western partners must accept. Last week’s resounding success of the BRICS Summit, which hosted 35 nations representing more than 50% of the world population, attests to the long-term impact the BRICS Association will have. Ignoring the BRICS Association’s geopolitical influence on world economics will not make it go away.

Whoever is elected President will have to deal with the shift from a Unipolar to a Multipolar World and get accustomed to building respectful and fair relationships with other nations instead of trying to control and bully them if they disagree with you. If not, over time, more countries will prefer joining BRICS and abandon the US, leaving both the US and The West more isolated. Believing that the world still depends on the United States is a big mistake. It was made clear during the summit that a peaceful multipolar world will grow and prosper, with or without the participation of the US and the West. Trump must understand this if he has any chance of Making America Great Again.
